My guess is that it either needs java 
(http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el3/en/i386/RPMS.dag/j2re-1.4.2-11.1.el3.rf.i586.rpm 
for LEL 3.0) or a specific kernel version. redhat-release is the same in 
LEL as in RHEL.
