The original RHEL 3.0 was released without nasm. It was however needed to build some packages, so Lineox added 7. Sep. 2004 version 0.98.38 to LEL. Red Hat had omitted nasm apparenty by accident because it was added later. Update 4 had version 0.98.35-3, but there hasn't been any announcement about it on the RHSA mailing list, so it is difficult to track when it was initially added by Red Hat. Version 0.98.35-3.EL3 was released by Red Hat as an update for RHEL 3.0 and version 0.98.38-3.EL4 for RHEL 4.0. Binaries released by Lineox are both built on LEL 3.0, so regardless of the version installed on your system, it can be updated by apt-get or yum. In the future 0.98.38-3.EL4 will be unsupported and the latest Always current has version 0.98.35-3.EL3. Version 0.98.38-3.EL4 binaries will be removed from Lineox LEL 3.0 repositories one week from now. -- Raimo Koski http://www.lineox.net/ http://www.raimokoski.com/
